New Role - New Boats!

Things are afoot... My part time role as General Manager of Laurie Collins Marine has become a full time role. This has meant putting Nautilus Marine aside for the time being so that I can concentrate on new responsibilities with Laurie Collins Marine. The Nautilus Marine web site will remain as an avenue for marketing Laurie Collins Marine Group listings.

So whats happening at Laurie Collins Marine?

In 2006, we lost the Mustang dealership in a precipitous move by the Australian manufactures who appointed an new dealer for New Zealand. The Australian company has since been put into receivership, so we are better off without them.

This has given the opportunity to seek new brands and shortly two of our three new brands will be represented on our sales berths in Westhaven. The Doral Sports Cruiser range from Canada brings the sports cruiser to a new higher level in New Zealand. The 45 ft Alegria has already arrived and will soon be followed by the Boca Grande 39 (sold), Intrique, and Alisio.

Laurie Collins Marine has also entered into a marketing agreement Greg Elliott of Elliott Marine to market and sell the Elliott Tourer range of fast cruising yachts world wide. Ranging from the 1250 through to the 1650, the Tourer range has already elicited orders from New Zealand and Australia.

Laurie Collins Marine will also represent the Bertram range of sports fishers in New Zealand. This compliments the Caribbean range which is marketed by long time Laurie Collins Marine team member, Les Nichols.
The photos are the Doral Alegria.

Townson 8.79

This Townson yacht is a little honey. The owners are very keen to sell and will consider all offers. Price indication - $NZ 60,000

Cruising Yachts arriving in New Zealand

As a long time sailor, I have a personal interest in yachts and specifically long distance cruising, even though family commitments preclude much of it myself any more.

I specialise in selling inbound cruising yachts that have arrived in New Zealand from the Pacific. If you have to return home and leave your yacht here for sale, I can look after the yacht for you. We can arrange berthage, ongoing inspections and maintenance as required, sea trials and pre purchase inspections on your behalf (only done after we have a signed sale & purchase agreement and deposit), and formal customs clearance once the vessel is sold.

Dealing with NZ Customs is a simple process as we have a very good relationship with the team both in Auckland and Opua. All we need from you is the original proof of purchase (your sale & purchase contract will do), your NZ Customs Temporary Import Exemption (TIE) certificate, and a letter instructing us to act on your behalf and the processis very simple. We do 4 - 8 such imports every season and can usually surprise owners with the amount of duty and GST charged.

For further information, call Mike Ward at Nautilus Marine +64 27 275 0911 or email me via our web site at www.nautilusmarine.co.nz - excuse me not putting my email address here but at over 400 spams per day I'm getting a little cautious about putting emails addresses on web site.

Recent sales of imported yachts on behalf of very happy owners include:

"ACE" a Passport 42 from the USA (SOLD)

"CAVATINA" a Van de Stadt 34 from Australia (SOLD)

Tayana 42 from the Great Britain (SOLD)

Super Sovereign 35 from Europe
(This vessel back on the market as the new owner
now wants a bigger yacht!)

Current in bound listings include:

Metalu Diam 40 - from Canada (SOLD)
Spaulding 48 Ketch - From Hawaii (SOLD)

Integrity

INTEGRITY ?

Both buyers and sellers look for a broker with integrity when buying or selling their yacht or launch. Unfortunately there are brokers and there are brokers - some you would want to deal with again and again and others you would wish you had never met.

It really pays to do you homework when selecting a broker. Ask around on any marina and you will quickly find out who the rogues are and who get the repeat business. At Nautilus Marine, we pride ourselves on honesty and integrity. Having a boat on our books called "INTEGRITY" simply is not enough. At Nautilus Marine, we choose to treat every client as we would ourselves want to be treated. Nothing else matters.

As an aside, we do have "INTEGRITY" for sale. A beautifully presented schooner by Krogen, "INTEGRITY" has all the look and feel of a traditional vessel with magnificent timberwork inside and out.

November 2006 - the owner has decided to keep the yacht as he really does like it too much to sell.

Winter - a Great Time to Cruise the Pacific

As keen sailer for the past plus years, I have to wonder why more Kiwis don't sail off to the islands for a few months during our winters when it really isn't a great time to sale down here. Cruising yachts are available to suit nearly all budgets.

We have H28s for around $30,000 that have been there and done that and luxury cruisers exceeding $500,000. A recent listing of a Salthouse 75 at $2,750,000 plus GST show the top end of the yacht market and represents a yacht that has been purpose designed to cruise with a crew of only two on board.

Another new listing is the Jeanneau CS 43 at $495,000. This outstanding vessel has nearly every avaiable option and presents like new. The convertable option allows you to alter the cabin layouts to suit your specific requirements. With only 500 hours on the engine and offered well below replacement, this yacht is worth a look whether you want to cruise the Hauraki Gulf, Bay of Islands or be more adventurous and explore the South Pacific.
